Beloved of the rivers,beset
By azure water and transparent drops,
Like a tree of veins your spectre
Of dark goddess biting apples:
And then awakening naked
To be tattoed by the rivers,
And in the wet heights your head
Filled the world with new dew.
Water rose to your waist,
You are made of wellsprings
And lakes shone on your forehead.
From your sources of density you drew
Water like vital tears
And hauled the riverbeds to the sand
Across the planetary night,
Crossing rough, dilated stone,
Breaking down on the way
All the salt of geology,
Cutting through forests of compact walls
Dislodging the muscles of quartz.

I love the intensity and passion of Pablo Neruda and I alaso admire Pablo Neruda for his convinctions.
I think I have all his poetry books and enjoy reading him, especially in Spanish and in Italian.
His love sonnets are incredible and so is his love for Matilde, his wife and source of inspiration and deep passion which expresses itself through verses filled with symbols through which life and love connect.
I love Neruda... no rhymes in his poems... poetry doesn't necessarily need rhymes to express itself.
Thank you for posting Pablo!

I love Pablo Neruda too, thanks for posting this one.
Hello Anna and Cait!
Thank you, Pablo Neruda is one of the giants on the mountain, but I'm always in doubt how much is lost in translation.
Anna, it must be wonderful to read it in Spanish. I know a little French, a Latin language, but this is not enough of course. Pablo's poetry is so beautiful and strong. I like his name,Pablo Neruda. The Spanish names are often good to say, like the Italian: Pablo Neruda, Pablo Picasso, Federico Garcia Lorca....... there's some temper in them.
Have a nice week-end both of you!
I still need my winter-coat here!
